George Simiriotis (1878-1964) was born in Adramytti, Asia Minor, but grew up in Mytilene, where he spent his student years. He then left for Athens, where he lived from 1898 to 1906 and traveled to Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and the USA. He returned to Athens in 1916, published texts in literary magazines, co-published the magazine Saloni (1924) with his brother Kostas and was involved in theater. After a short stay in Smyrna before 1922 he returned to Athens, where he spent the rest of his life.
